It’s easy to assume that your potbelly pig can eat everything you offer just by looking at it. Potbelly pigs may be fed a wide variety of foods, but there are a few items you should avoid feeding them.
Apple and pear pits, apricot and peach pits, wild mushrooms, raw lima or kidney beans, rhubarb, sweet potatoes, castor beans, and plants are all included in this list of ingredients.
Apricot and Peach pits, as well as apple and pear seeds
You may not give a second thought to consuming some of these fruits on their whole. People who eat an apple with the seeds have been known to me.
These seeds and pits contain a substance called amygdalin, which to me sounds disgusting. When this amygdalin is released into the body, hydrogen cyanide may be formed.

In addition, it can be wonderful to give your pig a treat like this from time to time. You should, however, be sure to offer your pig a couple of days worth of apples, pears, apricots, or peaches if you find yourself with a lot of them.
You risk cyanide poisoning if you feed it to them all simultaneously. Alternatively, you may remove the pits from the apricots and peaches before feeding them to the pigs, and they will be good to consume.
It’s also good to wash these fruits well to remove any pesticide residue they may have absorbed from the surrounding area.
Mushrooms found in the wild

Typically, we feed them to our pigs since they don’t mind them in this stage. Those mushrooms, meanwhile, should be OK for kids to consume.

The humble spud
This has happened to me several times, and I’m not sure why it has happened to me. That’s happened to me a few times, and I wasn’t sure what to do with them until it occurred again.
Hashbrowns may be made into mashed potatoes using an instant pot. Should I boil them and feed them to my pigs, or should I keep them for myself?
We used to feed our pigs the baked potatoes that no one ate, but we no longer do so (they adore them). This increased production of chlorophyll and solanine causes the potatoes to become green.
When eaten in excessive amounts, the solanine may induce paralysis in both humans and animals. Certain potatoes can be stripped of their green sections and still be eaten.
Toss the potato that still has a harsh aftertaste. Your pigs’ digestive systems may fail, and they’ll die if you feed them these. A dark, cold, and dry corner of your home might help keep your potatoes from becoming green.
RAW lima or kidney beans.
Lectin, a toxin found in raw lima and kidney beans, has been linked to various health problems. Vomiting and stomach discomfort are possible side effects of this poison.
The toxicity may be removed from the beans by properly cooking them. You must first soak the beans for five hours in the water and then boil them for ten to fifteen minutes to cook them.
Toxins should be removed this way.

Trypsin, an enzyme inhibitor found in raw sweet potatoes, hinders protein digestion. Protein is critical to a pig’s diet and development; thus, blocking it is a bad idea.
Enzyme inhibitors cause the body to produce more digestive enzymes than detoxifying enzymes if they are present in excessive amounts.
Then your pig might get ill as a result of this behavior. Cooking sweet potatoes before feeding them to your pigs will help prevent this. Cooking the potatoes removes the enzyme inhibitor, making them safe to consume.

Beans of castor
Humans may put castor beans to a variety of applications. Although the user does not like the process, it may be used as a diuretic in certain situations.
However, castor beans are also a source of ricin. For those of you who don’t know, Racine is a poison that can kill you even if you only touch it.

According to research, one bean’s ricin can kill a kid, while seven beans’ ricin can kill an adult. As a result, you must keep your pigs away from them.
Make sure not to give your pigs brewing garbage and be quite cautious about what you feed them. Pigs may suffer as a result of this.

When it comes to the amount of salt you feed animals, you have to be stringent. On the other hand, other creatures demand more salt to maintain their health.
